  The UK and the Separation of Church and State

  is the idea of separation of church and state as prevalent in the uk as it is in canada and the us?

  i personally wouldn't think so since the queen is the head of the anglican church, but perhaps someone from the uk can enlighten us north americans.

  also... don't you find that separation of church and state in canada has become a bit ridiculous, even to the point of religions and religious not being allowed or permitted to voice their opinions on gay marriage or decriminilization of pot?

  Is the idea of separation of church and state as prevalent in the UK as it is in Canada and the US? I personally wouldn't think so since the Queen is the head of the Anglican Church, but perhaps someone from the UK can enlighten us North Americans.

  hey guys, thought i'd introduce myself...... my name is lars, and i'm 22... i'm majoring in education here in florida........ i was brought up as a jw, but i never really got into it... because the political side was so corrupt.... right now i'm just trying my best to be a good person, for myself and for god..... .

  i'm a little rough around the edges... i shoot guns, race cars, ride bmx..... etc... so i guess my lifestyle didnt suit the jw's as well...... .

  anyways, i searched around for a picture of myself, but i really dont have any "normal" ones......... .

  if there was one thing that affected me most was, i would have to say the time i ran into a brother (while i was still in the borg) in the downtown area.. he said "just take one year off, no meetings, no service, no assemblies, no talks, nothing, just take a break, and you will see the wathctower differently, and your mind will clear.".

  at the time i just shrugged it off as a bitter jw who left, now when i look back, it was probaly the biggest thing that someone ever said to me, and he was right, 100%.. was there a saying, an occurrence or a person that just got you thinking about how ridiculous the watchtower is ??

  A Scottish protestant told me to believe whatever I wanted to believe and don't allow anyone to tell me what I should or should not believe. This happened while in "service" when I was young. And if anyone could "win" an argument against a JW, this guy did against the elder about Hell.

  Help With Cancer Treatment

  my dad is a jw and has recently been diagnosed with chondrosarcoma (type of bone cancer), the oncologist says the only way to treat this is to cut off his leg and part of his pelvic bone.

  since he will not accept blood transfusion, the doctor will not perform the surgery because of the high risk of him not making it through the surgery.

  he has found an alternative doctor that has given him a lot of hope and started him on a natural chemo, various vitamins and a nutritional plan.

  Don't bother with "natural chemo". Chemotherapy is only effective after surgury to remove the cancerous cells. The malignant cancer cells MUST be removed especially if it is a bone cancer. Chemo basically kills the person in hopes of killing cancerous cells that may have been left or spread after surgury. If the chemo is done without surgury and there are a large number of cancerous cells, a large amount of chemo drugs would be needed and this would kill the person taking them.

  always, since the beginning of the wts, they have always held a carrot in front of everyone, saying the end is right around the corner.

  not 100 years away, but always within a few years.

  many witnesses need immediate gratification.

  Sure, things are pretty bad , but if the end was right around the corner, the bible points to the end as being an almost unprecendented anarchy. The current conditions don't really justify the claim that the end of the word is near; therefore the doctrine of the JW's shall have to change surrepticiously over the next few decades.

  well, i told my parent that i didn't want to be a jw (having not gone to meetings for many years) and it went pretty well.

  i even disproved watchtower doctrines, but of course i was the one who was mistaken.. i aslo said that i would be going to other churches... i didn't specify because i didn't want to see the reaction to catholic.

  i also signed up to start the process to become catholic (unlike the jw's you can just learn about the faith without any obligation or harrassment) i went down to st. francis de sales church and i signed up for the rcia program.

I also signed up to start the process to become catholic (unlike the JW's you can just learn about the faith without any obligation or harrassment) I went down to St. Francis de Sales Church and I signed up for the RCIA program. Very, very nice people in the parish office. I AM TRULY FREE.

  Now I am thinking that I should write the society and disassociate myself with it (even though I was an "unbaptized publisher" when I was young) and ask for any records that they have on me back (if they have any). Suggestions on writing it or reasons why not to?
